Finally Some News!!

If you have been following our posts and/or reading our minutes, you will know we have been pressing the consortium since August 2018 to tell us who’s who at the Project Office.

In true developer fashion, the management company directors have not had the courtesy to respond to us directly, but have used the Great Park community co-ordinator as a mouthpiece for their announcements, in addition to posting on their web site.

GPNA are not particularly happy with this, it feels like part of a general attitude of disdain towards residents and belies the fact that their web site claims to engage with residents groups.

good news paper

We do finally have some official news, albeit second hand.

The consortium have appointed a new Project Director, who has just started work for them. Susan Cargill is no longer working for the management companies. We have asked on your behalf if the new director will also be the agent for the management companies, and await a response to our question put via the GP co-ordinator.

This is a copy of the statement from the consortium:

We are delighted to announce that Oliver Thompson has joined the Newcastle Great Park Consortium taking on a Project Manager role with immediate effect. Oliver has extensive experience having worked on several large and complex mixed-use schemes in North Yorkshire. We are confident that Oliver’s appointment will ensure that the delivery of the Great Parks well needed amenities will gather pace and further enhance what is already a fantastic place to live and work. We feel that this reinforces the Consortium’s commitment to the Great Park as we look to finalise several agreements and make some extremely positive announcements in the very near future. We hope that you join us in welcoming Oliver to Newcastle Great Park and we wish him every success in the future.
